The term Bollywood was created by combining two names, Bombay (the city now called Mumbai) and Hollywood. Bollywood is based in Mumbai and is the World’s largest film industry in terms of the number of films produced per year.

The highlight of Bollywood films are elaborate dance sequences and beautiful soundtracks. Earlier, Bollywood dancing was more prevalent in various parts of India due to a high consumption of Indian films. Today, it has become one of the most popular dance forms in the Western Countries particularly, in Europe, Canada and the US.

Over the years, Bollywood Dance style has developed its own essence and their own signature style of dance and music which ranges from Indian Classical and Folk Dances to Jazz and Hip-Hop.

In this era, Bollywood Dance has been massively influenced by Western Culture and dance styles. The dance movements have become very bold and extroverted to captivate the audience. Over a decade, the changes in Bollywood Dance style is giving rise to another form of dance known as the Contemporary form of Dance.
